Heineken - Pletterpet

You can recognise a real South African football supporter by his Makaraba, an artfully crafted miner’s helmet, painted in the club colours. The Dutch response of Heineken to the Makaraba during the 2010 FIFA World Cup was the Pletterpet (Afrikaans for helmet).

Kommerkors was responsible for engineering this helmet. The total development process lasted only five months. And that is extremely short for such large projects. 700,000 Pletterpet units were produced.

The Pletterpet generated a lot of attention for Heineken. The World Cup organisation was not all that happy about this because the Pletterpet successfully upstaged the official sponsors.
