Albert Heijn: Hup Holland Hamsters

Kommerkors regularly designs striking promotional free gifts for Albert Heijn, the leading food retailer in the Netherlands.  For the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, we came up with the Hup Holland Hamsters, a legion of 23 different hamsters. Albert Heijn customers received a hamster for every 15 euros spent on shopping. In addition, customers could also buy large hamsters, supporters’ scarves, maracas and hamster stands. The Albert Heijn branches in Belgium also gave their customers hamsters: Red Devil Hamsters.

The assignment for Albert Heijn was to think up a product that could play the lead role in a major national advertising campaign during the 2014 FIFA World Cup. A product that would appeal to people from all walks of life. A collector’s item too, which could be produced in large numbers at a low price and without loss of quality. Together with TBWA we created 23 appealing hamsters with a three-dimensional appearance.  For the production and delivery, we collaborated with Edison International.

The hamsters were very well liked: “The Albert Heijn Hup Holland Hamsters campaign is the most widely known and also the most highly rated by the Dutch people during the World Cup,” according to Marketing Tribune. Link: click here.
